Introduction

Direct Messages are 1:1 chats with another user on Calaxy. Calaxy DM comes out-of-the-box with all the features you'd expect:

• Replies

• Emoji Reactions

• GIF Support

• Videos & Images

• Links

• Audio Messages

When you first message someone, it will show up as a conversation request on their end that they need to approve. Once they do, you can start chatting. All active conversations live in the Messenger > "Messages" tab. Direct Messages will show a circular avatar of the person your are chatting in the main inbox. You can search for conversations using the search box at the top, or create a new conversation using the "+" icon (top right).

💬 Creating A New Direct Message

To create a new direct message with another Calaxy user:

1. Tap the "+" icon in the top right corner of Messenger

2. Tap "New Message"

3. Search for the user you want to chat with and tap on their name

4. Send them an initial opening message to create a conversation request

5. The recipient will be notified and if they accept your request, a new direct message conversation will be created

You can also quick start a new message convo directly from someone's profile by tapping the paper airplane icon just beside the follow icon above the followers/following display (upper right section of profile).

⚡ Action Menu

The Action menu lets you do some cool stuff in your chat:

• Compose different kinds of messages (like audio, video, GIF)

• Quick buy services from Creators

• Text crypto or collectibles

• Send tips

The action menu can be accessed by tapping the ⚡ icon to the left of the message composer at the bottom of your screen when chatting with someone. The options will change depending on who you are chatting with. If you are chatting with a regular user (non-Creator), you will be able to send crypto & collectibles, photos & videos, GIFs, and audio messages.

If you are chatting a verified Creator, you will also be able to "Send Request" which will open the Creator's shop panel where you can quick-buy any service or experiences they have available. Learn more in Texting With Creators.

😶‍🌫️ Archiving Messages

To archive a conversation:

1. Tap on the 3-dot options menu (top right) from within the conversation you want to archive

2. Tap "Archive" on the menu and follow the on-screen prompts to archive

3. The direct message convo will then be moves to the "Archived" tab in Messenger*

*You will no longer receive notifications from new activity in archived conversations. Archiving is another way of "muting the convo"

Restoring An Archived Conversation:

To restore an archived conversation:

1. Open the conversation from the "Archived" tab

2. Tap the 3-dot options menu and select "Unarchive"

3. This will restore the conversation back to the main "Messages" tab as an active conversation

4. You will now start receiving notifications for activity that happens in this restored convo

🟧 Reporting A User

If you need to report a user due to an issue you are experiencing inside a direct message convo, do the following:

1. Tap the 3-dot options menu from inside the chat with the user you want to report

2. Tap "Report"

3. Fill out a short description of why you are reporting this user and hit "Report User" to send the report

4. Calaxy will review the report and take any necessary actions we deem appropriate for the situation

Once you've reported the user, we also recommend archiving their chat (see previous section) so you aren't bothered with notifications from any future activity in this chat.
