A New Day One: Calaxy Is Now Live On Base Network! [v1.9 release]

Calaxy v1.9 is the biggest update in our company's 5 year history. So big in fact, that we're dubbing it "A New Day 1." Calaxy is now officially on the Base network. 🥳 Today we're announcing a suite of integrations across the product that utilize Base (Ethereum L2) technology and sets the stage for the next chapter of Calaxy's long standing mission to revolutionize the Creator economy and give Creators true ownership and control over their digital destiny through the Worlds platform. Buckle up. This is a big one.

Calaxy Is Now Listed In The Base App And Farcaster Mini App Stores

In addition to our standalone app which you can install here, Calaxy is now listed as a mini app in both the Base and Farcaster mini app stores. This means you can use Calaxy right from inside the Base and Farcaster mobile apps using your existing Base and Farcaster .eth accounts.

Base Network Native Sign-In Methods (and X)

The first major integration beyond the mini app store listings is the ability to now join Calaxy using your existing Base or Farcaster accounts. You can do this from within the mini app, or inside our standalone app. In both cases, your account info like PFP, username, bio, and more will auto-populate inside your Calaxy profile.

Calaxy also supports signing in with your X account. Prior to v1.9, Calaxy supported "connecting" your X account inside settings, enabling users to purchase things like a verified Shoutout on X from a Creator. Now, we are introducing the ability to use your X account as the primary sign in method for Calaxy. You can learn more about sign in methods here.

Launch Coin Gated Communities (Worlds) using Base assets (Stablecoins, Creator Coins, NFTs)

The whole premise of Calaxy is the ability to launch your own community app (formally referred to as a "World") via the Worlds Platform where you, the community Creator — essentially gain complete control and ownership of your own branded social app for you + frens.

v1.9 introduce the ability to "coin your community" with Base network assets like $USDC (base), Creator coins ($ZORA / $YOU), and Base-native NFTs. This unlocks an unprecedented opportunity for Creators to build a thriving, containerized ecosystem around their coin (or other base asset). Learn all about token-gating your WORLD here.

Choose Between Four Different Access Modes For Your Community

In addition to token-gating your WORLD, Calaxy provide 3 additional access modes that can be setup when you are creating your WORLD. These include "Open", "Invite Only", "Subscription" (paid membership), and of course "token-gated" with crypto or NFTs.

These 4 access modes give you granular membership controls over your WORLD and provide the means to power all kinds of communities from very large open forums to very small (and private) setups for you and some friends to paid memberships that generate real revenue, and finally, communities defined by a specific token or NFT. The possibilities here are very exciting and robust.

By far one of the coolest features of WORLDS is the ability to install your World to home screen and receive push notifications (just like Tiktok or Instagram). Your World is an entire social app with your name on it. And your members will interact with it in this way.

Send & Receive Base Network Assets (Crypto, NFTs) Through Your World's Messenger

Each World comes with its own messaging app built-in. The messaging app is extremely robust and feature rich. You can text everything from videos, pics, gifs, audio messages, URLs, products, services, tips, and most notably, crypto & NFTS gaslessly (on supported networks).

v1.9 introduces texting support for Base assets like $USDC (base), $CREATOR coins, memecoins, and base NFTs like Base Punks. Base network fees are "on the house" which means you can send / receive base assets from another platform user gaslessly, and without needing to worry about copy/pasting wallet addresses. Its the most seamless way to transfer ownership p2p.

You can also send base assets "off app" by initiating a text conversation with an external phone number and send the number assets (maybe your friend who isn't on the platform yet) and when they create an account with that phone number, they will claim the funds automatically.

Each User Has A Single Universe Account That Is Used To Credential Them To All Worlds

It doesn't matter what World you sign up in, the account created there will be used across the Calaxy platform to credential you to other World apps, seamlessly. You can think of your account as a universal passport that holds your access to previously joined Worlds.

You can fast travel between Worlds using the built-in sidebar in the main Calaxy app. This is very similar to switching between Discord servers.

The Worlds Platform is the ultimate community building "super app" that unlocks an entirely new way of approaching audience development and engagement. You get real contact data for each member that joins, and the ability to consistently reach all members through things like push notifications, and a private home feed away from big platform algos. Posts to your home feed are seen by everybody.

Why Base Network?

On August 9, 2023 — just one day before Calaxy officially launched to the public — Base launched its mainnet to the World. Since then, Base has firmly solidified its position as the rightful home to builders building actually good, useful consumer-focused products that put ownership at the centre of the new internet paradigm.
