Video Calls

This article covers the Video Call product on the Calaxy platform.

Introduction

Video calls are basically a paid FaceTime with fans that happen directly inside the Calaxy App (or a WORLD app).

📹 Enabling Video Calls

To enable Video Calls in your Shop, do the following:

  1. From your own profile, tap "Manage My Shop" (or "Setup Shop" if you haven't enable any products yet)

  2. In the Services section, tap "Setup" beside the "Video Call" product

  3. Set your weekly availability window.

  4. Set your booking gap (breathing time between calls)

  5. Set your video call fee*

  6. Tap "Activate Video Calls" button to turn on Video Messages

Congrats! Fans can now book video calls with you from your Shop.

*We recommend pricing calls based on a call time of 3-5min. We require the call lasts at least 1min to officially count as a completed job.

📨 Delivering Video Calls

When a fan books a Video Call with you, it will show up as a Job in the Messages > Jobs tab and on your Action Calendar located in the top right of Messenger. Calaxy will send you ample heads up when video calls are approaching, and notify you when to hop on a call.

To complete a Video Call from the Job Board:

  1. Go to the Messages > Jobs tab.

  2. Tap on the Video Call Job to open it and view the job details

    1. The call details will tell you if the fan is on the call. If they are, tap the green "Join Video Call" to join the call

    2. If the fan is running late, hang out on this call detail screen until the fan joins

  3. When you are in the call, you will see the fan's username and display name at the top right

  4. You will also see the call time counting up in the top right corner

  5. Have a call with the fan that lasts at least one minute, and when you're ready to hang up, tap the "End Call" button (bottom right)

  6. The call will end and you will automatically get the payout insantly dropped in your wallet.

  2. You will see all booked calls show up on the Calendar

  3. Any calls that are scheduled for "right now" will pulse in red

  4. Tap on the call to open the call details

  5. The call details will tell you if the fan is on the call. If they are, tap the green "Join Video Call" to join the call

    1. If the fan is running late, hang out on this call detail screen until the fan joins

    2. When you are in the call, you will see the fan's username and display name at the top right

  6. You will also see the call time counting up in the top right corner

Video Call FAQs:

Can a fan cancel or modify a video call booking?

The fan can cancel or change the booking block up to 48 hours before the booking. Inside 48 hours, they cannot cancel or make modifications.

Can a I cancel a video call booking?

Yes, you can cancel a video call booked on your calendar anytime. This will trigger an automatic refund back to the fan.

How are no-shows handled?

If a Creator hasn't showed for 10 minutes (starting from the time of the original call booking), the call will automatically cancel and the fan will be issued an automatic refund. If a fan hasn't showed for 5 minutes (starting from the time of the original call booking), the call will end and the payout will unlock to your wallet. We do not officially offer refunds to fans that are more than 5 minutes late to paid Video Calls.

What happens if the call drops due to lost signal?

Calaxy will try its best to keep the call active during period of bad connection (like Facetime does). If either party drops off the call, they will have 2 min to re-join before the call auto-ends. You will see a 2 min countdown timer on the screen during this scenario. If the call had been active for at least 1 min prior to this happening, the payout will be issued to you (the Creator). If the call had been active for less than 1 min prior to someone dropping the call, the call job will be deemed incomplete and a refund will automatically be issued to the fan. As a reminder, paid video calls need to be active for at least 1 minute to count as a completed job. Anything less, for whatever reason, cancels the job and triggers a refund to the fan.

What if my fan isn't happy with how the video call went?

Calaxy does not officially offer refunds to fans who are not happy with Video Call services. If you are feeling generous, you can arrange a manual refund directly with the fan off-app. (eg. send them money via Venmo or Paypal).

Can I change the price of my Video Calls?

Yes! Absolutely. You can change the price by editing your Video Call product in Shop Manager on your profile. Any active video call bookings will remain in place, at the original price paid by the fan. We recommend honouring those prices and completing those calls. Any new bookings that happen after you change the Video Call price, will be quoted the new price at checkout.

What is the furthest out on my Calendar a fan can book a Video Call?

Infinity. There is no limit to how far out a fan can book you for a video call. If you aren't around when a call is scheduled, the fan will automatically be issued a refund.
