Special Requests

This article covers the Special Request product on the Calaxy platform.

Introduction

You know when you go to a restaurant and ask for the off menu special? That's Special Requests in a nutshell. Special Requests is how you can service basically.. anything a fan is asking you for (assuming you are cool with it). Its totally open to you and the fan to work out.

Unlike other job types that have specific completion criteria that automatically unlock payouts (like sending a video message), Special Requests are open-ended, so the payout is unlocked when you manually mark the job "complete."

💵 Minimum Offers:

One unique aspect of Special Requests: In order to make one, the fan must stake an offer amount that is equal to or higher that minimum offer you have set for Special Requests. This ensures only serious requests that meet your "floor price" make it your way.

💝 Enabling Special Requests

To enable Special Requests, do the following:

  1. From your own profile, tap "Manage My Shop" (or "Setup Shop" if you haven't enable any products yet)

  2. In the Services section, tap "Setup" beside the "Special Requests" product

  3. Set the minimum offer amount a fan must pay to make a Special Request to you

  4. Tap "Activate Special Requests" button to turn on Special Requests

Congrats! Fans can now send you Special Requests.

🎁 Receiving & Delivering A Special Request

When a fan submits a Special Request to you, it will show up as a Job in the Messages > Jobs tab. You will also get a notification about it. Special Requests need to first be accepted by you, and then marked complete after you are finished delivering the job.

To complete a Special Request:

  1. Go to the Messages > Jobs tab.

  2. Tap on the Special Request Job to open it and view the job details

  3. Review the job details, and choose to either Accept, Negotiate, or Decline the offer.

    1. If you accept the job, you will need to go and complete the request, and then hit the "Complete Request" button on the details panel when you are done. This will unlock the payout to your wallet.*

    2. If you want to negotiate the offer, close the job details and message the fan directly, asking them to change their offer price. Once they do, you can open the job details box and accept the request

    3. If you decline the request, the request will be cancelled and the fan will be issue a refund.


💵 Negotiating The Offer Amount / Request Details:

Its often the case you will want to negotiate a price for whatever the fan is requesting - if you don't like the initial offer. To do this, negotiate with the fan in the text chat where the job is located, and ask them to change the offer. Assuming you both reach an agreement on price, you can open up the job details box and Accept The Request to officially commit to it.

⏰ Accepting Requests With A Time Component:

Delivery Date/Time

When a fan submits a Special Request to you, they can include a specific date/time they need the request completed by (eg. "meet n' greet at a sweet 16 birthday party next month"). When you accept Special Requests with a time component, they will be added to your Action Calendar and scheduled accordingly. Calaxy will send you a series of heads up notifications as the date of Special Requests approach.

Lead Time

For Special Requests that have a date/time component, the fan can also specify a lead time that essentially marks a deadline by which they need you to either accept/decline the request. Lead times provide the fan with assurances that you will be able to deliver the request on the delivery day.

Example

  • Stacy wants you to come and perform at her Wedding in 3 months. She sets a lead time of 8 weeks. This means you will need to accept/decline this request no later than 8 weeks prior to the wedding date. This gives Stacy the ability to find someone else if you can't commit to her wedding date.

Can a Fan cancel or modify their Special Request before I accept / decline it, and get a refund?

Yes, a fan can cancel or modify a Special Request before you respond to it. If they cancel, they will automatically be issued a refund.

What if I don't like the initial offer for the request?

Can my fan cancel a Special Request after I have accepted it?

No, a fan cannot cancel a Special Request after you have accepted it. We treat accepted Special Requests as formal commitments to complete the Job, and we assume that after you have accepted a Special Request, you will be investing time and preparations into delivering the request to the fan. What the fan can do is message you directly and ask you to cancel the request. If you oblige, the Special Request will be cancelled and the fan will get a full refund. This gives you the discretion to issue a refund by way of cancellation, if you haven't invested too much time / resources into the job yet.

What happens if I don't respond to a Special Request by the date / time it is needed by, or the lead time set by the fan?

If you end up not responding to a request that has a date/time component to it, or a lead date/time, and that date/time passes — the special request will automatically cancel and the fan will be refunded. Calaxy will give you several notifications to help you not miss reviewing Special Requests with date/time components.

Can Special Requests be IRL (In Real Life?)

Yes. Special Requests can be real life experiences you deliver to fans in a physical setting, or digital experiences you deliver through Calaxy, or on another app. Special Requests are wide open.
